A Dog Lives In His Owner’s Grave And Refuses To Leave

A dog lives in its owner's grave and refuses to leave

If we ask you what you would be able to do for your dog, the answer would surely be almost anything.

It is true that when one of these pets comes into our lives they transform it and little by little a love and emotional attachment is born that unites us to it in a way that we could not imagine.

It is clear that he becomes someone essential in our life. If now we had to ask our dog what he would do for us, he would not answer us, of course.

But we know perfectly that anything. Even after death. Like the protagonist of our story, a dog that lives in the grave of its deceased owner and refuses to leave it.

A dog that does not want to abandon his master

We do not know his name or that of his owner, but that does not matter. We have known one more story that shows us how the dog, if it is not man’s best friend, at least, is one of the best.

This animal, when its owner died, decided that it was not a reason to remain separated. He was not going to allow death to sever their close relationship.

What he did was  move to the cemetery to be as close to his master as possible. Once there he tried to make himself comfortable and could think of no better way than to dig a hole in the earth that covered his master’s coffin and use the hole as a lair.

So he has a house dug to protect himself from inclement weather and to sleep.

You may be wondering by now how it gets food. The visitors and keepers of the cemetery are responsible for providing the food and water they need to survive.

Of course, many times they have tried to take it to another more comfortable place, however this animal returns time after time to the grave of its master. He is clear about where he wants to be, where he will surely remain forever.

Another dog, same story of fidelity

You may think that this story is unique, however it is not. We have known similar cases that emphasize how the dog is the animal most faithful to the human being.

A few years ago we learned the story of Captain, a mongrel dog who had been taking care of his master’s grave in Córdoba (Argentina) for years.

In January 2007, Captain arrived at the cemetery where the mortal remains of Miguel Guzmán, its owner, who had died a few months earlier, rested .

The animal ran away from home and, curiously, until a few weeks later they did not know where it had ended up.

Until one day they were surprised to see him next to his master’s grave. For everyone, the most curious thing is the fact that the animal found the exact place where the remains of his best friend lay.

But the truth is that Captain faithfully guards the place and only leaves his post to sometimes return to the house he shared with Miguel.

How could it be otherwise,  Capitán became a mass phenomenon in his hometown. Many went to the cemetery just to see the animal. The most daring tried to offer him alternatives so that he would find a more comfortable home.

However,  all attempts were in vain, since Captain is clear about his place and does not intend to abandon it. He has had to overcome various health problems. The last time we heard from him was at the beginning of this year.

Captain is not feeling very well. You have chronic kidney disease that causes you to vomit frequently. It is normal for a dog of about 11 years. A veterinarian visits him regularly in the cemetery.

As he explains, his life has not been easy, since he has spent many years living outdoors and eating disorderly, so the ailments are normal.

There are also many visitors who come to the cemetery just to take a picture with it. Initiatives have even arisen in the locality to make a monument of the animal in the holy field so that its love and fidelity are remembered forever.

The truth is that it would not be bad.
