How to get organized when you have a lot of pets

You love animals. You started with some fish, then some guinea pigs, later you dared with a cat and, when you realized it, you practically have a zoo at home. Dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, how to be aware of everything? When you have many pets, a good organization is necessary and we want to help you with that.

What are the needs of pets

Taking good care of pets, no matter how many you have, is about taking good care of all their needs. When you have many, this matter could get complicated, but it is not impossible. These are the basic needs that you must cover:

Food

Any pet, whatever the species, will require you to feed it. Think that animals are dependent on us, so it is our responsibility to meet this need. You will have to provide each species with specialized food to provide it with the nutrients and energy it needs.

Water is another need, as all pets will need clean water to drink. Even in the case of fish and turtles, although you will not have to give them a container with water to drink, you will have to make an effort so that their water, in which they live, is clean and at the ideal temperature.

Hygiene

Hygiene is an important point to take into account, especially when you have many pets. Besides being a responsibility of keeping pets, you will make your house smell clean and you will not disturb the neighbors.

Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other animals need baths, brushing their teeth, and cutting their hair and nails at a minimum. In the case of fish, snakes, turtles, iguanas and the like, cleaning your terrarium or fish tank is essential  to ensure that they live in a clean environment.

Utensils in good condition

The feeders and drinkers, the bed, the toys, the blankets or any other object that our pet uses, must be clean and in good condition. Otherwise, you could even get infections or hurt yourself in the case of broken feeders for example.

Walks

Animals were not created to be in cages. Although dogs are the ones that most need to walk because they need to relieve themselves, cats, rabbits and others need you to let them move around the house or garden to stretch their legs. Also, this will be a great way to make them feel like members of the family and home.

Walks with your dog

How to organize if you have a lot of pets

Get up before

Just getting up 10 more minutes early could get all your pets ready before you go. Establish a routine: start, for example, by changing the water and adding food, cleaning the sandbox, walking the dogs and feeding the fish.

Mark timetables

If we do not establish an hourly routine, it is normal that we forget to clean the council cage or feed the turtle. It is best to do a quadrant, at least until you have everything under control. Mark the tasks that you have to do every day and set a fixed time for it, and most importantly: fulfill it.

Then mark tasks that you should do every two or three days such as cleaning cages; weekly how to purify the water of the fish; or monthly like the dog bath. Mark a specific day of the week or month and stick with it. Little by little this routine will be part of your life and you can do it without looking at the schedule.

Organize the purchase

You will have to have enough food for all the animals and you will not be able to allow any of them to run out, so organize your shopping list so that you can always have a reserve. In the case of guinea pigs, for example, which usually eat vegetables and fruits in their diet, you could have these cut in the fridge so that later it takes up less time and makes you less lazy.

You better than anyone will know how to organize your day, but remember that, so that nothing is forgotten, making a quadrant with a schedule and sticking to it is the best idea. Courage you can!
